Received Copycat Legal / Christopher Sadowski copyright infringement extortion letter

I havent been able to sleep normally since I received this letter.

Came home to find a Fedex letter on my front porch.

It's a very official letter asking for a $25,000 settlement because I used 1 IMAGE on my blog!

I called them immediately to apologize and I removed the photo.

I was asked for more information about my website, but was a little alerted when they told me that they are putting it on record that I acknowledged that I received the letter.

I told them I'd call them back with info... what should I do?

This is such a nightmare.

First, you are one of many many many people that get these everyday. You are probably just a row on Copycat Legal's spreadsheet for all we know.

Second, the numbers asked for means absolutely nothing. Sure, it CAN go up to $150,000 IF you check off all the worst cases like doing it "willfully," doing this multiple times, not responding to court, made a million bucks off of it, etc. But for the most of us that have a blog that makes pebbles, IF you end up going to court, is probably going to pay the minimum of $750 + lawyer cost which is usually not worth the time for their client. That's why you are getting a demand letter to settle things.

About them asking for more details, please just remember that their lawyer is only looking to help their client.
