First of all, I am getting extreme stress because of this matter and losing my hair on this. PLEASE HELP ME ON THIS.
Received an email notice from PicRights AU about 6 months ago claiming that my small parenting blog used an image that is against copyright and claiming large sum ($2,000). I thought that they are scam but just in case, I deleted the image from my blog immediately but did not respond to PicRights because I thought that they are scam but now they look like hiring local law firm and I received a letter from domestic legal firm and now claiming $4,000 for compensation for a simple low quality generic image used before.
I sent a response to legal firm that It is an innocent infringement that used 3rd party ghost writer (hired from Fiverr) used many years ago and took the photo down immediately. And, it was non-commercial educational nature of the article and no financial gain.
Now, the legal firm claims the original $2000 to be paid immediately. I cannot even afford this amount so not sure what to do here.
Never had this kind of legal issues before so no idea what my options and if this is 100% legit.
If anyone had similar incidence from the company, please do share. Any feedback or suggestions would be hugely helpful.
Thank you.
